At the Nov. 12 school board meeting, the Minneapolis school board voted to appoint Mohamud Noor as the newest member of the board. Noor will be sworn in at the Dec 10 meeting and will be serving out the term vacated by the passing of Director Samatar.
Noor has a B.S. in Computer Science from Metropolitan State University. He has worked at the Minnesota Department of Human Services since 2007 and is the Executive Director of the Confederation of Somali Community in Minnesota.
After the appointment, Noor said “I feel honored and humbled. I look forward to working with the board, the superintendent and the administration. I look forward to working with the parents, students and teachers to make sure that we have the highest quality of education in our city.”
The Minneapolis School Board has a mid-term vacancy for a representative from District Three. The School Board will follow procedure pursuant to Policy 8116, which addresses Board vacancies.
